Help a mom looking for postnatal yoga!?
I live on the east side of Cleveland (but I’d be willing to travel a little south and to the near west side). I am looking for postnatal yoga to take my 6 month old to. All I can find is yoga for tots (2+) or studios that once offered the class, but no longer do. Please help!
Edit: I would like to find a place that offers a decent workout. From what I hear about the Atma Center it doesn’t really do that for you
Emma answers:
My hospital where I’m delivering offers classes. I think most hospitals do. Check your local hospitals’ website to see.

Paul asks…
postnatal yoga DVDs, suggestions please?
hi i want to start doing yoga! I can’t get out to yoga classes and have never done yoga before. I have a 2 year old daughter and a 6 week old son. Any body started yoga from DVDs? Know of any good DVDs? Do i need to do the ‘postnatal‘ yoga DVDs still or at 6 weeks postnatal or can i just do ‘normal’ yoga for beginners?
Emma answers:
Shiva Rea has a basic one Postnatal Yoga and there is also Fabulously Fit Moms, The New Mom Workout.
I would do the postnatal to start bcz the movements are more gentle. Consult your doc b4 you start to make certain it’s OK.

Lizzie asks…
When can I start yoga after a c-section?
I am 8 weeks postpartum. I want to go back to my yoga practice. There is NO postnatal yoga class in my area. I wonder how soon I can join a normal yoga class again?
I had done my 6 weeks checkup with my doctor and given an all clear from my doctor. However, since yoga can have quite a bit of poses involves abdominal work, just wonder if I can join a normal yoga class.
Thanks.
Emma answers:
I would start with a gentle or maybe restorative yoga class and work your body and confidence back up.
You may also want to google for “yoga forums” and join a yoga forum and ask the experts there.
Good luck!

Robert asks…
How did you lose the baby weight?
I am currently 58 lbs over my target weight, and I was wondering what worked for you or someone you know. I have been doing postnatal yoga and have cut refined sugars from my diet. I haven’t lost much yet, but it has only been a week. Any advice for more effective weight loss?
Emma answers:
There’s this exercise from home course you can do which works miracles and even fitness trainers etc recommend it. It teaches you what to eat and when and you don’t have to go to a gym to exercise either, which you obviously won’t have time for after having a baby!
It also teaches you how to kick any bad habits and the workouts are timed to fit in with a busy routine of feeding, burping, changing, playing, sleeping etc etc.
Hope this answers your question
